Sustainability

Approximately 85% of clothing produced in the fashion industry will end up in landfill, with only one in five of those garments being worn at all! The fashion industry contributes a huge chunk of  textiles and garments to landfill every year.

At Dumb Blonde the label we use print on demand for our collection, creating an item only when you have placed your order! The product is also shipped directly from the supplier to your door step, this eliminates excess handling / excess shipping. Your product only does one trip to get to you - reducing Co2 emissions.

The only time we print or create a garment is when you, the customer, have ordered and paid for your item. This can mean slightly longer wait times, as things are created on demand, however this also means we only create items that are genuinely wanted and contribute minimal waste to landfill!

For every order placed with Dumb Blonde, we remove plastic from the oceans!

We remove plastic from the ocean with every order placed through our store profits. By supporting my small business you are raising awareness and also cleaning up the ocean at the click of a button!

Eco-friendly items

We stock eco friendly options for all of our designs. Currently available we have the recycled bikini range, recycled shorts, rash guards and biodegradable phone cases. More additions will be added to the site very soon!

DTG Printing

Dumb Blonde the label uses direct to garment or DTG printing for our "By the sea" collection. Our suppliers use high-quality, water-based vegan inks that they formulate, test, and produce in their own factories. They are non-hazardous, toxin-free, biodegradable, and certified with an OEKO-TEX Eco Passport.

Quality

The better the quality, the longer your item lasts. This means less replacements and therefore less impact on our wonderful Mother Earth ! Our supplier runs durability, wash and wear tests with all products before they are available for design. For optimal quality the eco collection is a must see.

Packaging

A lot of research has gone into the environmental impact of Dumb Blonde the label. We use a print on demand service which allows us to print and supply directly from one fulfilment centre. Our packaging is therefore all done by our wonderful supplier. The supplier currently uses a combination of packaging made of post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastics and compostable bags.

PCR plastics are made from items people recycle every day, like plastic bags and bottles. Most of the PCR plastics are made from shopping bags and wrapping films. Currently the percentage of PCR plastic used in our packaging is approximately 50% with moves being made currently to reduce usage even further.

The goal is to completely phase out plastic in packaging altogether and switches to cardboard have been made where possible. Our supplier has also eliminated the second layer of plastic in orders when able to do so. There are outlines and restrictions which make this process drawn out, however we are confident and supportive of our suppliers transition to zero plastic process.
